The new EP by Indianapolis based duo First Action Hero comes across like the toothache following great candy. Musically the new product shows advancement in technique by both musicians with complex riffs, vocals and drumbeats that give the outfit the sound of four or five members rather than just two. Much like the candy analogy, each song features catchy hooks that lure you in initially. But elements like changes in tempo or tonality, or the underlying theme of good things gone bad accompanying each track carry the sharp sting of a good thing taken too far till it’s gone wrong. Laden with more attractive hooks than a Bass Pro Shop, Consume Corrupt entices us to look at the lyrical picture painted, and in turn we realize the picture is actually an opportunity to gaze in the mirror.
